Tonia Trent, Optician

“I don’t know why it struck such a chord with me, but I was absolutely fascinated with how our eyes work.”

Tonia Trent

Growing up on a farm in a small town in Southeast Tennessee, Licensed Optician, Tonia Trent spent most of her time outdoors.  She loved being around all the different animals, especially the horses.  If she wasn’t taking care of them, then you would most likely find her out on the softball field, enjoying her second favorite activity, playing sports.

Throughout high school, her plan for the future started to involve helping people.  This led her to pursue a degree in Social Work in college.  It was during this time that fate entered into her life when a friend of hers told her of a family member who was living with Macular Degeneration.  Tonia did not know about the disease and out of curiosity alone, she began to research the condition.  The more she learned the more she became fascinated with the eye and all its complexities. “I don’t know why it struck such a chord with me, but I was absolutely fascinated with how our eyes work,” Tonia states. As a result, she changed schools and enrolled at Roane State to become a Licensed Optician.

After graduating, Tonia spent 13 years working for a large optical company, managing several offices in both Tennessee and North Carolina.  Tonia is ABO and NCLE certified, TN and NC licensed and is a member of the Tennessee Dispensing Opticians Association.  In 2012, she joined the practice of Dr’s Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor, and Haun.

Tonia’s workday is always highlighted when helping a patient achieve the best possible vision with superior products.  “I get to see the direct benefit of applying my skills every day.  It’s wonderful to see the final result of better vision on people’s faces,”she explains.

Tonia Trent sees patients at the Sevierville office location, located at 962 Dolly Parton Pkwy Sevierville, TN 37862.  If you would like to make an appointment, please call 865-428-8000.
